On behalf of the Omicron Kappa Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated, I want to welcome you to our website. Our illustrious organization was founded in 1908 at Howard University. As the first Black-Greek letter sorority, Alpha Kappa Alpha has 116 years of sisterhood, scholarship, and "Service to All Mankind". Our purpose is to "cultivate and encourage high scholastic and ethical standards, to promote unity and friendship among college women, to study and help alleviate problems concerning girls and women in order to improve their social stature, to maintain a progressive interest in college life, and to be of Service to All Mankind". Our website briefly overviews our efforts to provide educational programs and service projects to our local community. As Omicron Kappa welcomes and celebrates its 37th year on campus at Appalachian State University, we strive to be leaders on and off campus and work tirelessly to better our community and those around us.
